Tyson Motsenbocker

In North Central Washington State, Tyson Motsenbocker grew up in the apple orchards and pine forests at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. It’s the pastoral sound of his childhood that has defined the sound of his music, even among the freeways and fast pace of his new Southern California home.

In 2013, after the death of his mother, Motsenbocker walked the six hundred mile stretch of coastline from San Diego to San Francisco in memory of her. In the contrast of loud cars on a dirty highway with the serene beauty of the Pacific Ocean Motsenbocker contracted a new view of life beyond loss, a renegotiated relationship with God and peace inside the turmoil. This walk would become the basis for his debut full length record “Letters to Lost Loves” on Tooth & Nail Records.

Letters to Lost Loves was celebrated by NPR as “Best New Music” – the first track “In Your Name” being featured by Lars Gotrich in “Songs We Love.” Soon afterwards Motsenbocker was offered support tours from Jon Foreman, Sherwood and Yukon Blonde. In the coming two years tour offers from Judah and the Lion, Switchfoot, John Mark McMillan, Dave Barnes and others came in as well. April of 2018 brought a West Coast run of headlining shows, which sold 60 - 250 tickets per night.

In 2019 Motsenbocker finished Someday I'll Make it All Up to You, a Sophomore release, set to release on Tooth and Nail Records in early 2020. Produced by Tyler Chester (Blake Mills, Andrew Bird, Madison Cunningham). Performances by Aaron Redfield (Greyboy Allstars, Prince), Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes), Dan Bailey (Father John Misty), James McAllister (Sufjan Stevens, Jeremy Enigk, Big Red Machine), Madison Cunningham, Sam Weber and Matthew Wright.
